FIA GT3 in Brazil

We all know the FIA GT3 Championship, it is covering some of the most interesting circuits in Europe featuring several very interesting Italian made supercars.

But in 2007 the FIA decided it was time to take on new continents, and South America sounded like a nice option, so lets take a look at GT3 racing in Brazil.

The Brazilian version of the GT3 Championship would take five meetings, the first race was driven on the high speed, counter clockwise circuit of Taruma in the Rio Grande do Sul state, southern Brazil.

Teams that are competing in the European version of the FIA GT3 are also eligible to race in Brazil, and vice versa, the SRO Motorsports Group is the mastermind behind the GT3 class. Stephan Ratel manages the SRO and owns all rights to the FIA GT1, FIA GT2, English F3 and the GT3 Championship in Europe, he subsequently joined Walter Denari and Antonio Hermann, two race drivers that already held the rights to the Mil Milhas (the Brazial Mille Miglia) race.
